I’ve usually taken my time so far to write orchestral stuff for film , as it takes a bit of tweaking and shifting. Layering of notes and pitches to get a real feel.
It’s new for me and I’m still learning, but the results are pretty good, and will go on to get better.

I think I will have to pull the Garritan sounds out of Finale, it’s just to painful and awkward to make music with.
Technical Issues as well as usability problems.
I could get stuff done and tweak the real world feel much faster in Pro Tools and Ableton Live.

Completed a demo for the Uk Film Underground. Did In one night just because I wanted to do something exclusively for them.
It’s not bad for a quick demo, at least I know I can do it, although the trumpets need more work I think.
The military style snares came out pretty well too, because of layering and shifting of notes.

Let’s wait and see what the film makers think of it, and I have more demos to do for other film makers

When I get home, or when I make Electronic or film music, the chains are off.
But when I’m elsewhere or doing the day job, the chains are on, the straight jacket is tight.
It really is a case of twisting and breaking myself into a shape that I’m not designed to be.

But it’s been this way all my life, and it’s taught me not to lose my temper ( this IS losing the fight) and to mask the real me.
Which most people never get to see anyway.
The “grey man” is what the SAS call it, neither passive , nor aggressive. It works very well when you’re being put under pressure ( or interrogation) or dealing with daily B*llsh*t.
It also frustrates people endlessly because they can’t see a way in, and always hit a brick wall of nothing. Good. If I’m adopting that it’s for good reason.
It keeps The Ghost from annihilating people, and saves the energy (like anger= fuel) for the creative darkness that always welcomes me…

They don’t put the lions in with the tigers at the zoo, that’s just the way it is…

Till next time

As I looked across the water to Hong Kong, when the darkness had rolled over the water and the lights were painting gently across the surface, I really felt like I wanted to fly home.
To be back en route across Europe, looking down at the tiny Island that I used to inhabit.
It’s not that England did me big favours, or that I wouldn’t live in another country, but I just can’t keep staying here without progress.
You have to pray nothing goes wrong, or you don’t get sick. Then you have to know someone who speaks English so you can get by.
I never thought things like that would make such a big difference, but we all take them for granted.
Doing business here is fraught with problems even for Chinese people, let alone a foreigner.

If you are a foreigner here you have to watch yourself, as the majority of people don’t help each other here.
That definitely reminds me of the Uk and the attitude they had towards the Electro side of the dark music visions I have.
You only realise this when you get a different perspective, i.e. Detroit on things.

At least now I feel ready to go through that again, just much better equipped, armed and ready for battle.
But this time it’ll be covert ops all the way, only letting people see what they want to see…

Till next time…
