Bittersweet Fingers Of Sin – 2010 Electro
March 7th by The Ghost That Walks | | View CommentsIt’s been almost 2 years since I wrote something new, and it’s like I’ve never been away.
I’ve had to sell the Akai MPC 4000, Focusrite and Yamaha Aw4416, so I’m working fully inside the computer again
Not by choice, but my circumstances have changed a little, and then again so have I…
Technology has moved on and Open Labs have moved where I wanted to be.
Being able to play virtual synths and VSTs on a stable platform, live, is what I was after. With the Miko LXD, I can put DSP cards running Neve and SSL plug ins, (Universal Audio) and TC Electronic Reverbs, even old school Roland and Moog.
So I decided to head for that because it makes it portable, keeps costs down for playing a gig, worldwide, and it’s very expandable.
A lot of very high quality plug ins available will bring that quality I was looking for, but just can’t raise the cash for.
It can even clone a midi keyboard, something I am very keen to use on hired analog synths…
If I’m very lucky I’ll be able to buy the Miko in May, with the DSP and software I need to follow soon after. This will really fit my plans to be living in Maidstone by the close of the year.
Everything feels like it’s being ticked off one by one…
All my plans, ideas and wishes, being set up, brick by brick.
It’s a shame the Satamile release is still on hold, just waiting for them to decide when the time is right.
Writing again is very therapeutic, and as I thought, it’s still dark as ever, despite my positive outlook on life, the core of me is always dark electro.
I’d love to be able to write some R&B for Usher but I just don’t think it would work!
Maybe I’ll do him a dark underground remix one day… you’ve got to be true to yourself… a lesson I’ve learned and something which very few people around me seem to learn or understand.
Got to keep the tunes under wraps, as that’s Satamile’s wish…
But straight of the blocks I’m pretty pleased and it bodes well for what comes next, as it’s all written in an utterly transformed state of mind than the last 25 years…
This means a lot of unleashed creative power that was held back before, now it can flow unhindered.. so a new high workflow instrument like the Miko will really bring that all out…
Till next time … The Ghost Walks With You….
